Multipurpose pool reopens!

In a win for swim school families, phase one of our major pools project is complete, with the multipurpose pool back open.

We are delighted to announce that phase one of the pool works project is complete, and the Multipurpose Pool has reopened on Thursday, May 8, 2025, ahead of schedule.

The multipurpose pool required replacement of the floor panels that make it accessible for the main users of this pool, our learn to swim participants and teachers.

During construction, our swim school families were relocated to different areas of the Melbourne Sports and Aqutics Centre, including the Hydrotherapy pool and indoor pool. Hydrotherapy pool hours will return to normal, and we thank all of our patrons for their patience while our littlest members continued their lessons in a new space.

The small area of steel corrosion has been cut back, treated and refilled. Loose and cracked pool tiles have been replaced, and legacy steel plates have been removed.

The new floor has been installed, and the pool has been refilled gradually before reopening. Floor commissioning, testing and staff training have been completed, ready for our learn to swim classes and patrons to return to using it.

The outdoor pool remains closed, and you can read more about this project and the timelines here.
